condo near Lions Park where she enjoyed walking her special little dog,
Cassie. She was also very active in her community, loved bowling and

Edythe Marion Shand
February
22, 1924 - April 3, 2007
Therefore, since
we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our
Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this
grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.
Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that
suffering produces perserverance; perserverance, character; and character,
hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love
into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Romans 5

Edith Evelyn Roberts
November 29, 1915 - February 17, 2007
Edith was born in Lampman, Saskatchewan on November 29, 1915. Her family
moved to Medicine Hat 6 months later, where she would reside on the same
street for the rest of her lifetime. For 18 years she worked for Ogilvie
Mills where she retired from in 1980. She would often walk to work and on
snowy days, would slide down the coulee on a cardboard sled, breaking her
arm in the process. Once retired, she started traveling with many family
members but mostly with her daughter Carol. She spent many vacations in the
Hawaiian Islands and the islands on the west coast of British Columbia. Her
travels took her from coast to coast in Canada and along the eastern and
western seaboards of the United States. She was one of the few seventy year
olds who would ride Space Mountain in both Disneyland and Disneyworld! She
traveled on most of the BC and Washington State ferries. She loved ships and
cruised along the Maritimes and rivers/canals of Europe. Edith once saw
eight shows in the London theatre district while touring England on a
Britrail Pass. Her favorite country was the Netherlands, a country she knew
well. She also visited Belgium, Germany, Denmark and Sweden. At age 85, her
trip to Denmark was a special time as she saw most of the country and stayed
with local people. Her biggest trip of all was to Australia and New Zealand
for Expo 88. One of her great concerns was not being able to live to see the
Calgary Olympics in 1988. This was short lived! Edith learned to use the
computer in her eighty's and was a prolific e-mailer. She had a love for
cats, and had many over the years. Her TV usually had a news channel on, as
she was always interested in what was going on in the world. Before her fall
that broke her hip and should, she looked forward to her walks downtown with
her friend and neighbor Eve. For many, many years she ate breakfast or
lunch, three times a week, with Vicki and Les. They patronized almost every
restaurant in Medicine Hat. In the last few years she looked forward to
Sundays for coffee at Tim Hortons' and for Tuesdays for Ruth's great meals. A
private family memorial service was held for Edith.

happy life. Kind, considerate and friendly, he was always ready to greet
friends, family and customers with a warm smile and hello. He had a witty
sense of humor and spent much of this time with his family. With his
nephews and nieces, he enjoyed watching movies, making Dairy Queen and Tim
Horton excursions and playing the latest video games. He was the big kid
with all the toys that they loved. With his mom, having lunch with her
daily and helping her with her errands was part of his day. Coffee at
Timmy's with mom on his day off was another pastime he looked forward to.
He never questioned her requests and always made it easy for her to ask for
help. He attended Vincent Massey, River Heights and Medicine Hat High
School. After studying business for 2 years at Medicine Hat College, he
started working full time for his father at the family grocery store "Foodland".
Always eager to have his sons join the family business, his father welcomed

the softie. Staff knew that Grant would never say no. He didn't want to be
"The Boss" and enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie with his staff. Other
pastimes Grant enjoyed included floor hockey, bowling and paint ball. He
took pride in his home and enjoyed conversing with his neighbors and living
in the Parkview area. Trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle, he enjoyed
spending many hours working out at home in his own "mini" gym. He will be

February 26, 1929 - October 27, 2007
It is with great
sadness the family announces the passing of Alvina Hehr, with her family at
her side on Saturday, October 27, 2007, at the age of 78 years, following a
long and courageous battle with cancer. Alvina was born on February
26, 1929 in her parents house in the Little Plume area. She was educated at
the Antelope Cut School. In 1946 she left home finding work at the Medalta
Potteries until 1953. Over the next twenty years she worked at the hospital
and the A & W in between raising her family. Alvina retired from Woolworths
in 1988 following 15 years of employment. She valued the many life long
friendships that were established with both staff and customers during this
time. Alvina married Archie Hehr on May 17, 1952 and have resided in
Medicine Hat since. Together they enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping,
bowling with friends and family and are dedicated Tigers seasons tickets
holders since 1972. She loved her "Tigers". Her hobbies included knitting,
baking, canning, crossword puzzles, reading and gardening. Alvina’s life was
dedicated to her family, she gave of herself and never asked for anything in
return. Alvina’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with her
grandchildren, whether it involved watching their many sports, going south
on vacations, camping or attending school functions. Family gatherings,
spent with her siblings and their families were a large part of her life for
many years.
