Archie Matthew Fandrick was born in Medicine Hat on July 19, 1943. His earlier years were spent growing up on a farm in Thelma and Hays until 1966 when he moved to Calgary. As a thrill seeking young man Archie carried on a life full of challenging events, some of his most memorable were clowning and bull riding. They resided in the Calgary area until 1986 when they moved back to the Medicine Hat area. Over the next 20 years, Archie's life revolved around inventing, developing , and building SHAC Enviromental Products. Archie's love of meeting people gave him the opportunity to start up Archie's Meats, which gave him the nickname of "One Armed Sausage Man". After giving up Archie's Meats, he decided to help out friends and went hauling steel for J.C. Metals. Archie (dad) was not only a remarkable man but an amazing dad, facing every challenge in his life with dignity and courage that inspired us all. December 25, 1931 - March 10, 2007

Winnie was born on Christmas Day in 1931 in Medicine Hat. She was raised and educated in Redcliff. She worked for Dominion Glass for a number of years prior to marrying our father, Ken, on September 25, 1954.  Mom and Dad made their home together in Ralston where she loved taking care of her family, husband and home. During that time, she also worked for the Post Office and later, once her family was grown, she worked as head purchasing clerk for CANEX. Her interests included gardening and needlepoint of which she received numerous awards at Medicine Hat Stampede. Mom and Dad both retired to Redcliff where they led active lives together. Fondness of camping fulfilled their lives with numerous friendships and acquaintances. Mom decided to make her new home in Medicine hat two years after Dad's passing in 2000. She loved her condo near Lions Park where she enjoyed walking her special little dog, Cassie. She was also very active in  her community, loved bowling and socializing with her friends. She was a very devoted Tigers hockey fan and would never miss a game nor did she care to talk on the phone when their away games were broadcast on the radio. They were very important to her. Mom was a wonderful, caring person who will be sadly missed by all those who knew here. She was our gift from God.

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perserverance; perserverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Romans 5

Edith Evelyn Roberts

November 29, 1915 - February 17, 2007

Edith was born in Lampman, Saskatchewan on November 29, 1915. Her family moved to Medicine Hat 6 months later, where she would reside on the same street for the rest of her lifetime. For 18 years she worked for Ogilvie Mills where she retired from in 1980. She would often walk to work and on snowy days, would slide down the coulee on a cardboard sled, breaking her arm in the process. Once retired, she started traveling with many family members but mostly with her daughter Carol. She spent many vacations in the Hawaiian Islands and the islands on the west coast of British Columbia. Her travels took her from coast to coast in Canada and along the eastern and western seaboards of the United States. She was one of the few seventy year olds who would ride Space Mountain in both Disneyland and Disneyworld! She traveled on most of the BC and Washington State ferries. She loved ships and cruised along the Maritimes and rivers/canals of Europe. Edith once saw eight shows in the London theatre district while touring England on a Britrail Pass. Her favorite country was the Netherlands, a country she knew well. She also visited Belgium, Germany, Denmark and Sweden. At age 85, her trip to Denmark was a special time as she saw most of the country and stayed with local people. Her biggest trip of all was to Australia and New Zealand for Expo 88. One of her great concerns was not being able to live to see the Calgary Olympics in 1988. This was short lived! Edith learned to use the computer in her eighty's and was a prolific e-mailer. She had a love for cats, and had many over the years. Her TV usually had a news channel on, as she was always interested in what was going on in the world. Before her fall that broke her hip and should, she looked forward to her walks downtown with her friend and neighbor Eve. For many, many years she ate breakfast or lunch, three times a week, with Vicki and Les. They patronized almost every restaurant in Medicine Hat. In the last few years she looked forward to Sundays for coffee at Tim Hortons' and for Tuesdays for Ruth's great meals. A private family memorial service was held for Edith.

Funeral service was held July 15, 2007.

Grant Wong

July 15, 1971 - September 1, 2007

Grant Wong of Medicine Hat, passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at the age of 36 years.  Born July 15, 1971 and raised in Medicine Hat, Grant enjoyed an easy-going and happy life. Kind, considerate and friendly, he was always ready to greet friends, family and customers with a warm smile and hello.  He had a witty sense of humor and spent much of this time with his family.  With his nephews and nieces, he enjoyed watching movies, making Dairy Queen and Tim Horton excursions and playing the latest video games. He was the big kid with all the toys that they loved.  With his mom, having lunch with her daily and helping her with her errands was part of his day.  Coffee at Timmy's with mom on his day off was another pastime he looked forward to.  He never questioned her requests and always made it easy for her to ask for help.  He attended Vincent Massey, River Heights and Medicine Hat High School.   After studying business for 2 years at Medicine Hat College, he started working full time for his father at the family grocery store "Foodland".  Always eager to have his sons join the family business, his father welcomed his choice.  Working with his brother as managers of the store, Grant was the softie.  Staff knew that Grant would never say no.  He didn't want to be "The Boss" and enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie with his staff.  Other pastimes Grant enjoyed included floor hockey, bowling and paint ball.  He took pride in his home and enjoyed conversing with his neighbors and living in the Parkview area.  Trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle, he enjoyed spending many hours working out at home in his own "mini" gym.  He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by those who knew him and loved him.

In 1988 he moved to Redcliff and remained there until his passing. He attended Medicine Hat High School and at the age of 18 when he went to work for Wittke Iron Works as a welder. He remained there until a few years before their closing. It was during this time that he met and married his wife Bonnie (and her son Justin) in 1989 and in 1990 his daughter Kristen was born. He also spent many hours working at the family business, Sterling Trailer Sales, as a salesman which he did until his passing. Anyone who took the time to get to know him also knew of his second love - stockcars. His father and he raced for many years on the old dirt track and when his dad finally quit, he did too. That only lasted a few years as he couldn’t ignore the thrill of the race. He got a new mini car and in family tradition, he took his son to the track with him until he could race too. This year he finally won the mini championship on mini 15 and he was as proud and happy as could be. Most will remember him as a loving father and husband and the kind of guy who’d give you the shirt off his back if you need it.
